11.5 Ring-the-Bell Monday & It’s Monday! What are you reading?

A new week, a new batch of books–both books finished and being read. Today is…

Ring-the-Bell Monday

{Wherein we share what books we have read in the past week.}

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Visit Teach Mentor Texts for Jen & Kellee’s “original”.

{Wherein we share the titles we are currently reading.}

My comment: I reread The Carpenter’s Gift to prepare for author David Rubel’s visit to my blog on his blog tour. Beautiful book–again. I had a difficult time limiting the number of questions I submitted. Check back on November 25!
My comment: I‘m re-reading Breadbox right now–something I’m not prone to do. I want to be prepared for our Thursday morning book club with students and parents. And you know what? I’M LOVING REREADING. I was surprised by how captivated I was by the book even though I knew what was going to happen. I took some time to think about why I was enjoying it so much. I shared this idea with my students: Usually I’m reading a book to see what is going to happen–I’m reading to get to the climax. On a reread, I already know how the book ends so I’m paying closer attention to how the author get us there and all the little clues and hints she drops that only make sense when the end is known.
I’m looking forward to our conversations and the Skype session with Ms Snyder on the 14th.
My comment: Thanks to Monkey See, Monkey Do and the Random House rep for this free copy. Perfect for teaching Pioneer days and Westward Expansion. Sweet story of loss and family.
The following picture books have been recommended at some point over the past few weeks. I can never remember who to give credit to. Well–THANK YOU, my bookish blog friends.
[Check back throughout the day for updates.]

Sooo…… What are YOU reading??? Please leave a comment and let me know.

(For every parent who leaves a comment with what you’re reading, I’ll give your child a BUSTED ticket…)

  1. The Carpenter’s Gift looks like a beautiful book – might have to add it to my holiday book collection. I completely agree about how rewarding rereading can be – I think it’s through a second read that we can really get deep into characters and the book.

    • Thanks for coming by, Barb. You won’t be sorry if you pick up this book. Great connections to Habitat for Humanity, too. Talk about chooseKIND!

      I don’t have enough time to Reread everything!!!! :-{
