12.31 Ring-the-Bell Monday & It’s Monday! What are you reading?

A new week, a new batch of books–both books finished and being read. Today is…

Ring-the-Bell Monday                  &                    It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

STUDENTS RETURN TO CLASS ON WEDNESDAY. THAT’S WHEN I WILL BE SHARING THIS WITH THEM AND HAVING THEM SHARE THEIR READING.
I worked through the first two books of Condie’s Matched trilogy.
I read this digital ARC from NetGalley–This author won the Newbery two years ago. This book is a strong contender, I’d say. It comes out Next week.
I even squeezed in a recommended YA graphic novel…
…and two easier ones. OMG–I thought these were a HOOT:
And after reading a blog post about great Christmas picture books, I went online and requested these from the library:
This vacation was also a great time to catch up on the picture books that I’ve been reading so much about but haven’t been able to read. I struck it rich on a trip to the library:

Farewell, Grandpa Elephant

My B Class has read:

I picked up this ARC from Monkey See, Monkey Do… bookstore. It is coming out in March. I started it yesterday and it already has me in its clutches.

I’d also like to start the end…

Before you see what the students are reading… what are you reading? Please leave a comment and let us know—and show the students that reading isn’t just a “school” thing.

Mrs. Rose Facebooked that she’s reading “An Echo in the Bone” by Diana Gabaldon ( book 7 in her Highlander series)

(For every parent who leaves a comment with what you’re reading, I’ll give your child a BUSTED ticket…)

[Check back at the end of the day to see the cool spinning pictures of what my students are reading.]

    • Hi, Mrs Edholm. On AlphaTeam, we try to “bust” kids for doing good things. They earn slips that are entered into a drawing for small prizes. Having parents engage in the learning and reading is certainly “bustable”.

Thanks for checking in. Please stop by regularly.

  1. I love vacations when there is time to enjoy a good book, or three! I am currently reading the novel “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” (Lisa See) and I love the history behind it. It tells the story of two young Chinese girls and the traditions of footbinding and arranged marriages. An excellent book that I would highly recommend!

    • I’m glad you understand a reading vacation!

SNOW FLOWER is one of my mom’s favorite books. She even emailed with the author. Wasn’t it made into a movie?

      Thanks for visiting the blog!

  2. Wow! What a great week of reading you’ve had! I loved so many of those picture books too. Reached is excellent and I hope you’ll enjoy the end of the series. I think I may start Eve & Adam today!

      • I love my Nook HD. I read, check e-mail, read the daily paper, etc. Jon gave me a wifi router and hooked it up for me and a friend had an extra cat-5 cable to do it.
There is so much I want to read …EVEN I FEEL I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME !
