I finally finished it. This is the kind of book that I read a little at a time. Very interesting to read these stories of underdogs who overcame a lot. There were some surprising findings and results presented. One of them is that the “ideal” class size is 24. (I suppose this is an opinion, but based on some research.) And how big are my classes this year? About 24.
I also enjoyed re-reading
It was great timing to read it to my students—especially since we spent considerable time discussing 9/11— and view the trailers for the upcoming movie.
It looks pretty awesome.
I started with the first trailer, then read the book, then we watched the second trailer to see what was similar to the book. Very cool.
Some other picture books I read
(some of which I look forward to sharing with my students this year):
Next week we should be ready for STUDENTS to do some sharing of the books their reading. Make sure you check back.
How many books did students in each class read last week?
What are they reading now?
Check it out:
Today students show the books they’re reading using SpinCam. Click the pictures below (once posted later in the day) to see the cool spinning pictures of kids’ books:
Period 1&2
16 books read
Period 5&6
 10 books read

For every parent who leaves a comment on TODAY’S POST with what YOU’RE reading, I’ll give your child a BUSTED ticket…

Did anyone leave a comment on last Monday’s post???
