Whatever Wednesday — a chance to post something I’ve seen that I’m diggin’. Though often a cool quote or poster, it might simply be a picture.
Enjoy!… and consider posting your own Whatever.
Reading Wonder connected me with Dede Dankelson. Dede is the Board Chair of CCA—Children’s Craniofacial Association. She is also the mother of Peter, a “real-life Auggie”. I received my CCA Kids newsletter the other day (you can visit their site and download their newsletter here) and saw that they were selling chooseKIND bracelets for a fundraiser.
I’m certainly going to advertise it to my students and colleagues and get in on that. The cost is only $1, there are children’s sizes (7″) and adult (8″), and the shipping is free:
I can’t wait to see these floating around my school.
Let’s support Auggies everywhere and wear a reminder to chooseKIND. Here’s how to order:

I certainly want one of those adult bracelets. What a great way to show caring and be able to support a good cause at the same time. At first, I thought WONDER was an unusual book w/ unusual characters. How surprising to find that there are lots of others who live their lives w/ significant differences and the people who love them and care for them. It can be very difficult and rewarding at the same time. They are all very brave and courageous.
Dad
I would venture that there are many who live brave lives though we may not even know what they’re battling against.
It’s a constant reminder that we need to chooseKIND.
Thanks, dad.
Are we going to be able to buy these in school? Also! I am about to ask my parents about the water run.
Yes, Ben. I’ll be handing out the slips soon–maybe tomorrow?
I sure hope you can run. Maybe you could get a group of guys together? Way to be a leader.
Love this, great resources!
Thanks. I’m trying to keep up with you!
Are we going to order these bracelets as a group or should we do it individually?
I’ll put something together and order as a group. Thanks for your interest! 😃
Thanks for following up with her. Of course, save one for me! S
I certainly will!
What a wonderful idea……It still amazes me that one book can have such an effect in a school.
Uncle Al
I agree. It is so memorable and applicable no matter what age we are. I think about Auggie often.
I also think about Auggie. There are some book characters that seem so real…..I find myself wondering what they’re doing now.
